There are several different options available for digital recorders.

The VR-204 can have DDS-2 and DDS-3. This recorder comes stock with DDS-2.

The VR-320 and VR-240 can have all of the available options. These recorders come stock with either 5.2 or 9.4 GB DVD-RAM(2) drives.

All of these media types are readily available through us, a high-end computer store, or a high-end office supply store.


DVD-RAM(2) have access times approximate to those of a hard drive. Load and unload discs in seconds. Formatting takes 6 seconds. 30 year shelf life of media. Reusable over 100,000 times with zero loss of quality. Resistant to shock, magnetic interference, or environmental issues. Voice files are secure from editing or magnetic damage, have write protect system to prevent accidental format or re-write.

DDS-2(3) have format times of a few minutes, and search times of about 36 seconds. Tapes are small to store, and fairly cheap for the amount of hours you can record on them. Drives must be upgraded from stock to DDS-2(3) drives. Succeptible to magnetic damage. Media fits in the palm of your hand.
